The building’s story
The Bassin des Prêtres on one side, rue St-Patrick on the other, and in between, a small city of brick that once refined sugar. In 1854, John Redpath opened his refinery here, on the Lachine Canal, a short walk from the Saint-Gabriel locks. It kept growing for more than a century, one building after another, until it closed in 1979.
In the early 2000s, the developer Gueymard took over the site and turned it into condominiums, phase by phase, on plans by Groupe Cardinal Hardy. From 2003 to 2006, one declaration followed another. The old refinery buildings were renovated and their brick masonry kept. Two phases, E-F-G and J, were built new, facing the factory, without trying to imitate it. On the canal side, the old buildings received no balconies: their openings were made taller, in the original rhythm.
Le Redpath is six buildings sharing one story, each with its own character. Phase A, at 1731 to 1751, is a two-storey row where many units have their own door on the street. Phase B-C, at 1719, looks straight onto the Bassin des Prêtres, with a penthouse on three levels. Phase D, at 1701 to 1713, keeps the real volume of the factory: steel beams, windows of up to 11 feet, penthouses on the 8th floor. Phase E-F-G, at 1673 and the neighbouring numbers, gathers the large lofts with terraces. Phase I, at 1655, has 16 lofts above the garage and houses the shared pool. Phase J, at 1649, is the new 2006 building, with 11 to 12-foot ceilings. According to our information, units range from 499 to 4,554 sq ft, with ceilings of up to 13 feet depending on the phase and the unit.
What ties the complex together is shared life. On the 5th floor of Phase I, the pool, gym and saunas are open to everyone. At the centre, the inner courtyard and its gardens. Security is on site, parking is indoors, and on the Bassin des Prêtres, marina slips are attached to some units.
Outside, Pointe-Saint-Charles. The Lachine Canal bike path runs along the site, Atwater Market is across the water, and the cafés of rue du Centre are a few streets away. Charlevoix metro is a 15 to 17-minute walk depending on the phase.
Le Redpath speaks to people who want to live by the water in an industrial complex that has kept its soul, and who like having a choice: a townhouse, a large loft with a terrace, or a penthouse under steel.
Every loft has a story. The story of Le Redpath begins in a sugar refinery on the canal. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux and Amélie Flanagan, real estate brokers, follow the Pointe-Saint-Charles loft market closely and work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.

Your broker for this building
We know Le Redpath.
We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.
“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”
Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
