The building’s story
On the edge of the Lachine Canal, a bell once rang out the work shifts from the top of a brick tower. The tower is still there. Behind it, the walls of the former Belding-Corticelli silk mill now hold 79 lofts, steps from the Saint-Gabriel locks.
The mill grew in stages from 1884: a twin wing in 1893, then an annex and its tower in 1903. The canal served as both its road and its power source. In 1911, Belding Paul merged with its main competitor, the Corticelli Silk Company, and the mill took the name Belding-Corticelli. After the company left in 1982, architect Simon Cayouette designed its conversion, completed in 1989.
Inside, the factory was not erased. Wood columns and beams rest on cast-iron capitals, and red brick frames long rows of narrow windows. In two of the three pavilions, some units rise to a mezzanine that opens onto a private rooftop terrace.
The complex is split into three pavilions between rue du Canal and rue Saint-Patrick, around an inner courtyard. Day to day: elevators, gym, saunas, storage, intercom, security cameras and indoor and outdoor parking attached to certain units.
Step outside and the Lachine Canal path runs toward the Old Port one way and Lachine the other, for morning rides or evening walks by the water. Charlevoix metro is about fifteen minutes on foot.
Les Lofts Corticelli speaks to people who want to live in a real factory, with its wood, its cast iron and its tower, and to anyone who would love the canal as a backyard.
Every loft has a story. Les Lofts Corticelli's starts in a silk mill. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux and Amélie Flanagan, real estate brokers, follow the Pointe-Saint-Charles loft market closely and work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.

Your broker for this building
We know Les Lofts Corticelli.
We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.
“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”
Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
