The building’s story

In 1854, John Redpath set up his sugar refinery on the Lachine Canal, steps from the Saint-Gabriel locks. Sugar was refined here for more than a century, until the plant closed in 1979. Today, at 1719 rue St-Patrick, the brick is still standing, and so is the water: Phase B-C looks right out onto the Bassin des Prêtres.

In the early 2000s, developer Gueymard turned the site into condominiums, building by building, on plans by Groupe Cardinal Hardy. Phase B-C was among the first: its declaration of co-ownership was signed in 2004. The old refinery buildings were renovated rather than replaced, and their masonry was kept.

There are 17 units here, from 721 sq ft to 4,554 sq ft. It is a building with many faces: lofts on one level, others on two, and at the very top a penthouse on three levels. Picture wood floors, an exposed brick wall in the bedroom, ceilings that reach close to 10 feet depending on the unit. Some units have a private rooftop terrace overlooking the canal.

Shared life at the Redpath extends across the whole complex: the pool, the gym and the saunas, the inner courtyard, and on the Bassin des Prêtres, the marina docks. Some units come with a boat slip, others with parking in the indoor garage.

Outside is Pointe-Saint-Charles. The Lachine Canal bike path runs past the door, Atwater Market is just across the water, and the cafés of rue du Centre are a few streets away. Charlevoix metro is a 16-minute walk.

Phase B-C speaks to people who want to live by the water in a real refinery building, with the option of a large loft on several levels.

Every loft has a story. The Redpath's begins in a sugar refinery on the canal. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux and Amélie Flanagan, real estate brokers, follow the Pointe-Saint-Charles loft market closely and work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.

Your broker for this building

We know Le Redpath – Phase B-C.

We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.

“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”

Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
