The building’s story
On rue Rose-de-Lima, eight doors open straight onto the sidewalk. Behind them are ground-floor lofts that the declaration of co-ownership allows you to live in or use as a workshop. It is the first thing you notice at 790, phase 3 of Les Lofts Impérial: a building that kept one foot on the street, the way Saint-Henri once walked to work at the factory.
The building is part of the former Imperial Tobacco site, where the neighbourhood rolled cigarettes for decades. Converted into lofts in 2008, it holds 68 units over four storeys. The original concrete columns and ceilings stayed right where they were poured.
Picture the door opening: your eyes go straight up. Ceilings run from 12 to 15 feet depending on the unit, 14 feet in most, and windows reach up to 12 feet, facing the street or the inner courtyard. Many units have a mezzanine, large enough for a bedroom or a work corner. On the courtyard side of the ground floor, some have a private entrance and terrace on the garden. According to our information, units range from 464 sq ft to 900 sq ft.
The roof of 790 is also home to the complex's urban chalet, with its kitchen, its fireplace and the city as a backdrop. The sports centre is shared with the other phases: a gym, a yoga studio and an indoor basketball court. The garage and storage lockers are under the building.
Outside is Saint-Henri. Lionel-Groulx, where the Green and Orange lines meet, is a 7-minute walk, and Place-Saint-Henri is 10 minutes away. Atwater Market, the Lachine Canal bike path and the cafés of rue Notre-Dame Ouest are all an easy walk.
