The building’s story
This is where shoes were made. The Dupont et Frère factory, with its brick walls and hemlock beams, rose in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve as early as 1908, close to Aird Avenue, and the building is still standing.
In 2009, the factory changed purpose: it became Le Gen-X II, a 40-unit loft condominium. The essentials were kept, the brick and the frame, so that people could live where machines once stood. An extension built at the back of the former factory adds a few modern lofts to the whole.
The units are not alike. According to our information, you will find units from 465 sq. ft. to 1,606 sq. ft., from small one-bedroom lofts to larger multi-bedroom units, depending on the unit. The building has an elevator and a shared terrace.
The neighbourhood is made for walking: Maisonneuve Market, the Olympic Stadium and the shops of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve are close by, and Viau metro station is about a 14-minute walk away.
