The building’s story
This is where shoe boxes were made. The James Muir & Co. factory stood at the corner of Aird and Rouen streets in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, and the building is still standing.
It dates from 1910: three storeys of detached industrial building, still shown under renovation and for sale in a 1994 archive photo. The declaration of co-ownership was signed in 2002, when the factory became L'Alternatif I, 38 units, a true hard loft where you live inside the original structure.
