The building’s story
In 1905, Fortunat Monette founded the Montreal Dairy Company. In the early 1910s, the dairy had its plant built on Papineau Avenue. More than a century later, the building is still standing. It is all that remains of the company: its other plant, at 1200 on the same avenue, was demolished.
The company became the Mont-Royal Dairy. In 1948, the building was sold to the Jacques-Cartier furniture factory. In 2009, it became a condominium. The City of Montréal lists it among its industrial buildings of heritage and architectural interest.
Nineteen lofts now occupy the two-storey building. According to our information, units range from 603 sq. ft. to 1,321 sq. ft., and several span two levels. Picture an open-plan living space under ceilings of about 10 feet, up to 11 depending on the unit, with large windows and wood floors depending on the unit.
Royaux Park is right next door. La Fontaine Park and Faubourgs Park are close by, and so is Ontario Street. Papineau metro station is about an 8-minute walk away. At the back, the building has 19 outdoor parking spaces.
This place speaks to people who like a building that served a purpose before them: a two-level loft, a park next door, the metro on foot.
Every loft has a story. The story of Les Lofts Montreal Dairy starts with a dairy. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux, real estate broker, and Amélie Flanagan, real estate broker, work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.

Your broker for this building
We know Les Lofts Montreal Dairy.
We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.
“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”
Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
