The building’s story
Wood slats run across the ceiling, meeting exposed steel beams above the living space. At Les Lofts de la Petite-Italie, the industrial structure remains part of everyday life. Picture a long worktable beneath it, shelves along a wall and enough open space for the room to keep its original proportions.
Built in 1945, the building once housed embroidery businesses. De Luxe Embroidery was listed here in 1947, and both De-Luxe Embroidery and Progress Swiss Embroidery used the Saint-Urbain address in 1973. Its conversion into homes preserved wood ceilings and steel beams that still define many of the lofts.
The layouts vary from one door to the next. Ceilings reach up to 14 feet, and recorded unit sizes range from approximately 571 to 2,039 square feet. Some homes keep everything on one open level. Others extend to a mezzanine or a second floor, setting the bedroom apart from the main living area. Several units have a private rooftop terrace, with room to take dinner outside.
An elevator serves the building, which also includes indoor parking and bicycle storage. Outside, Rue Saint-Urbain connects to the cafés and shops of Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Jean-Talon Market and Jarry Park are nearby places to make part of a regular routine. De Castelnau metro is a 5-minute walk away.
This Little Italy address in the Mile-Ex area suits people who enjoy visible materials, flexible interiors and a neighbourhood they can explore on foot.
Every loft has a story. The story of Les Lofts de la Petite-Italie runs from embroidery workshops to the homes that followed. Our role is to help you find the one that becomes yours.

Your broker for this building
We know Les Lofts de la Petite-Italie.
We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.
“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”
Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
