The building’s story

On the corner of avenue de Gaspé and rue Maguire, a building from 1923 keeps its factory habits: concrete columns, a steel frame, tall windows lined up along the street. It was a textile factory, like several buildings in this corner of Mile End.

In 2013 the building became a 29-loft condominium. The industrial volumes stayed: the original steel structure and the concrete columns are exposed, and in places the concrete floors were simply polished. Five ground-floor lofts even have their own door on rue Maguire, like small townhouses.

Picture the door swinging open. Your eye travels up, from 12 to 16 feet depending on the unit, all the way to the windows that pull in the light from the street. Several lofts spread over two or three levels, with a mezzanine for the bedroom or the office. Based on our information, units range from 1,000 sq. ft. to 2,168 sq. ft., room for a long work table or a studio corner.

Then you keep climbing. Every loft has its own private terrace on the partly green roof, with Mount Royal on one side and downtown on the other. Day to day, the building offers a secure lobby, an elevator and indoor parking.

Outside is the quiet-street side of Mile End. The Mile End community garden is close by, boulevard Saint-Laurent, avenue Laurier and rue Saint-Viateur are a few minutes' walk away, and Laurier metro, on the Orange Line, is about an 11-minute walk.

Les Lofts de Gaspé speak to people who want real industrial volume, a rooftop terrace of their own and a small condominium in the heart of Mile End.

Every loft has a story. The story of Les Lofts de Gaspé begins in a 1923 industrial building in the heart of Mile End. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux and Amélie Flanagan, real estate brokers, follow the Plateau Mont-Royal and Mile End loft market closely and work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.

Your broker for this building

We know Les Lofts de Gaspé.

We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.

“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”

Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
