The building’s story
On the 20th floor, the pool looks out over the Lachine Canal. Down below, the rail viaduct runs along rue Smith, a reminder of the Griffintown of warehouses and workshops.
In August 2011, District Griffin broke ground right here. The block framed by Wellington, Peel, Young and Smith streets became the first piece of a project that would redraw the neighbourhood: a residential tower, the ALT Hotel, offices and shops at street level. The tower at 1085 rue Smith, designed by Martin Marcotte Beinhaker, was completed in 2014.
It holds 187 units over 20 storeys, from 536 sq ft to 2,973 sq ft. Concrete stays exposed overhead depending on the unit, the windows are large, and several corner units have two balconies. On the 3rd floor, a few units unfold over two levels, with a mezzanine bedroom. Depending on the floor and the exposure, the view runs toward the Peel Basin, the Farine Five Roses sign, the Old Port or Mount Royal.
The 20th floor belongs to everyone. A rooftop pool and terrace with BBQs, a sauna, a gym and an urban chalet. Picture a summer evening, towel over your shoulder, the city lighting up below.
Outside is Griffintown. The Lachine Canal bike path and the Peel Basin a few streets away, the restaurants of rue Wellington, Old Montreal on foot. Bonaventure metro station is a 16-minute walk.
1085 Smith speaks to people who want to live up high in the heart of Griffintown, with the amenities of a tower and the canal as a playground.
Every property has a story. 1085 Smith's begins with District Griffin's first shovel in the ground. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux and Amélie Flanagan, real estate brokers, follow the Griffintown market closely and work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.
