The building’s story
At the corner of Rachel and d'Iberville streets, shoes were once made. In the 1960s, according to press archives, the building housed the La Grenade family's shoe factory, and the name stayed with the place. The machines are gone. The concrete is still here.
The industrial building, put up about a century ago, became a condominium in 2001. Today it holds 20 lofts on 4 floors, above a semi-basement level. The original concrete structure keeps things quiet from one floor to the next.
Picture the space: concrete ceilings of roughly 9 to 10 feet, exposed beams, epoxy-finished concrete floors in several units and generous windows, often on two sides in the corner units. On the 4th floor, the lofts open onto a mezzanine and a private rooftop terrace. On the ground floor, some units have their own terrace. Based on our information, units range from 644 sq. ft. to 1,179 sq. ft.
Each unit comes with an outdoor parking space and an outdoor storage locker, a rare thing on the Plateau. The building has an elevator.
This is the quieter, eastern side of the Plateau. Baldwin Park and its outdoor pool are a 5-minute walk away, La Fontaine Park about ten minutes, and the shops of avenue du Mont-Royal Est 12 minutes. Frontenac metro is about a 15-minute walk.
Les Lofts de la Grenade speak to people who want a true concrete loft in a four-floor building, with parking at the door.
Every loft has a story. The story of Les Lofts de la Grenade begins in a Plateau shoe factory. Our job is to help you find the one that becomes yours. Olivier Mailloux and Amélie Flanagan, real estate brokers, follow the Plateau Mont-Royal loft market closely and work with buyers and sellers across Montreal.

Your broker for this building
We know Les Lofts de la Grenade.
We follow this building one listing at a time: the corner units, the floors that catch the sun, what the co-ownership fees actually cover. That’s been our specialty since 2010.
“My job isn’t to sell you this building. It’s to tell you honestly whether it’s the right one for you, or whether we should look elsewhere.”
Whether you’re comparing two buildings, ready to make an offer, or just curious what a loft looks like inside, we take the time it takes. No pressure.
