History

In 1811, the small village of Saint-Henri des-Tanneries was founded by leather craftsmen and tanners. For more than half a century, the Moseley family exploited the leather in this factory, today it gives way to the Clos Saint-Ambroise which while taking place in this old building perpetuates a tradition dating from the French regime.

These lofts, unlike those that can be found along the magnificent Lachine Canal, are very particular. They are not "loft softs" as some people thought, but real lofts with a real industrial character. Nevertheless, they are all unique and that is what makes this project a major achievement. No two units are identical," says Frédéric Turbide, son of Gilles Turbide, the project's promoter. He would say in Le Devoir that all the units have "a unique character that allows the owner to emphasize his or her personality", and we can say that today, in our generation where everything is similar, this is a major asset. What could be better than having a loft that truly defines you?

Inside the units, the solid white pine columns blend delicately with the concrete or hardwood floors and the ethereal design of the kitchen and bathroom. As in all true lofts, the windows are generous and the occupants of the penthouses with mezzanine are the happy owners of pretty skylights. Add to this the huge ceilings and the exposed ventilation ducts and pipes to make the lofts even more raw. Luxurious lofts with little common space but for many a private entrance. We console ourselves with the superb view of the Lachine Canal and the surrounding area and the proximity of the Atwater Market.

The Clos Saint-Ambroise is also an island of tranquility. Indeed, the owners enjoy double-glazed aluminum windows, double metal partition walls, and a floor at least 5 inches thick, a little trio that ensures perfect silence.

Some units can be purchased with a parking space and all come with a storage space in the basement. A true family and authentic project that deserves to be known.
