Address : 454 Rue De La Gauchetière Ouest, Montréal
Classified as a historic building by the Ministry of Culture and Communications in 1985 under the name Unity Building. The Unity 1 is one of the most beautiful century-old buildings in Montreal. Built between 1912 and 1913, in the center of the "Paper Hill" district, a name given naturally since many industrial buildings were occupied by printing companies, many of which made their home at Unity.
In the early 2000's, the Unity building was transformed. D'Arcy McGee Developments Ltd. recycled the building into condominiums, which earned them the Wawanesa Heritage Award from the Montreal Architectural Heritage Campaign in 2003. This change required the replacement of windows and the creation of new openings on the south façade. In addition, the front door, which was located on St-Alexandre Street, was moved to De La Gauchetière Street.
