Built in 1911 by the Yorkshire Insurance Co. the 10-storey building was occupied by the Bank of New Brunswick, and several other insurance companies, lawyers and notaries among others. In February 1923, a fire on the tenth floor caused extensive damage to the building. The Yorkshire Insurance Co. quickly restored it. However, the Yorkshire Insurance Co. went bankrupt around 1960 and the tenants remained unchanged until 1970. Subsequently, in the early 1980s, extensive renovations were undertaken. The rental building was converted into residential condos and in October 2012, the building became a heritage symbol with one unit per floor.
