History

It was in 1850 that industrialization along the Lachine Canal really began. The digging of the Lachine Canal at the beginning of the century now allowed ships to travel west and flourishing businesses to establish themselves along its route. Among these was the Belding Corticelli Company, whose main trade product was silk. Although the company had been in existence since 1876, it was in 1884 that it built this five-story red brick building with many windows. With the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959, the Lachine Canal quickly lost its interest for merchants and the factories along it were gradually relocated and some demolished. Fortunately for the Corticelli, its conversion into magnificent condos allowed it to escape the sad fate that awaited it.

The Corticelli Lofts are 80 luxurious units located on the banks of the Canal and the Saint-Gabriel Lock. These lofts could be called "softs lofts", because only the facade really recalls its industrial history. Inside, the architecture is modern and the lines fluid. In some units, wood beams and hardwood floors make an appearance, but the style remains the same overall. The ceilings are about 10 feet high, but the large windows add to the feeling of space and lightness created by the combination of interior elements.

Nothing is left to chance at Corticelli Lofts. From the slate entrance hall to the private gym, sauna and event room, everything is done to ensure maximum comfort for the residents. Some even report how meticulously the building is maintained. All owners benefit from private storage lockers and the possibility of acquiring an indoor parking space.

This complex is a true patrimonial jewel that borders the Lachine Canal, majestic from the outside and from the inside it will delight all its residents with its magnificent interior courtyard overlooking the Bassin des Prêtres.
